ReFirme™ Skin Tightening via Wrinkle Treatment with ST Applicator

Syneron is thrilled to announce the FDA approval of the ST applicator for virtually painless and fast treatment for skin tightening. Syneron’s foundation for technology is based on elos™; the revolutionary combination of light and Bi-Polar Radio Frequency. The ST applicator combines gentle pulses of infrared light (700-2000nm) simultaneously with Bi-Polar Radio Frequency. One significant advantage to the ReFirme procedure is the fact the treatment is “virtually painless”.

ReFirme Application

The ReFirme procedure for skin tightening and wrinkle treatment is very easy to perform. The technician selects a level of Bi-Polar Radio Frequency and a contact cooling temperature treatment choice of either Normal (10°C) or Strong (5°C). Clear coupling gel is applied to the face. A full face pass is performed first on the patient. The patient will immediately notice the contact cooling and the gentle thermal effect as the applicator is pulsed on the face and neck. The ReFirme application is virtually painless and the contact cooling temperature can be changed to Strong when treating over bony prominences.

The ST applicator has a treatment area of 8mm x 12mm (96 sq. mm per pulse) with a repetition rate of 1.2 Hz in auto repeat mode. Once the full face and neck pass has been performed, the applicator should be targeted to the following areas for multiple pass technique to sequentially layer the desired thermal effect for optimal treatment. These areas include:

• Jowl Laxity
• Neck Laxity
• Sagginess under the eyes
• Sagging brow line
• Nasolabial Folds
• Upper/Lower Mandible

The ST applicator combining infrared light simultaneously with Bi-Polar Radio Frequency provides a thermal depth of penetration up to 4 mm. The result is noticeable contracture at the dermal layer of the skin. It is recommended to perform 1,600 to 2,000 pulses to cover the entire face and neck. Based upon this recommendation, actual treatment time is 25 to 35 minutes. The endpoint for treatment is edema and mild erythema. The treatment protocol is 3 to 5 treatments every 2 to 4 weeks. A maintenance treatment is recommended once every 3 to 6 months to maintain the optimized results obtained from the ReFirme procedure.
